Following a successful year where Castleford Male Voice Choir (CMVC) raised £1720.00 for Alfie’s Appeal which supports Brain Tumour Research and Candlelighters. CMVC is proud to support Age UK Wakefield District as our Charity of the Year.

Age UK Wakefield District work to support our older community with a wide range of help. Staff, together with hundreds of volunteers, provide vital services including financial reviews, mobility welfare, help around the home, befriending and social support.  We help older people feel connected, supported and valued.

In 2025 :-

• 11,152 older people supported

• 39,314 hours of home support delivered

• 92 community events with 6,540 attendances

• 364 volunteers providing support across the district

• We helped people access benefits they either didn’t know they were entitled to, or found the application process too complicated, to the amount of over £3 million pounds!

​

Fundraising efforts mean that as an organisation we can reach more people, train more volunteers and make sure our older community has somewhere to turn when they are in need.
